Fishing at Bremer Bay
Beautiful Bremer beaches are a great
place to relax and catch the big one.
The most common bait used in the beaches
of Bremer Bay are Pilchards (Mulies),
Squid, Octopus and Mullet. If you are
fishing in the Wellstead Estuary(Bremer
River) then river prawns and blue bait
seem to be the best. Bait can be
purchased locally from the Bremer Bay
General Store,BP Roadhouse or Elders
Hardware Store.
A safe place for the children to fish from is
our Boat Mariner or locally known as the
Jetty. Lots of little fish can be seen and
caught here and it is great for catching
Squid in the evening. There is also great
Squidding at dusk off the rocks at Little
Boat Harbour.
Deep Sea fishing is a great way to spend
your day. Bring your boat and have some
fun. Other varieties of fish which can be
regularly caught in the Bremer Bay waters
are Dhu fish, Nannygai, Samson, Pink
Snapper, Queenies, Trevally, King George
Whiting, Salmon and the occasional Groper.
Always tell someone where you are going
fishing and have a certain time you will be
arriving home in case of any unexpected
emergency. If you do not return by this
time someone could call Volunteer Marine
Rescue Service and they can try to find
your whereabouts.
