Bremer Bay is a beautiful coastal town situated on the South Coast of Western Australia between Albany and Esperance. Approximate population
is 300. The town is located at the mouth of the Bremer River, on the Wellstead Estuary, named after the first settler of the area, John Wellstead.
Bremer Bay offers spectacular beaches with a variety of activities and attractions that individuals, couples and families can enjoy.
Beautiful Bremer Bay has a wide expanse of crystal clear azure blue water and an endless stretch of striking white sand. The main beach is only 10
minutes walk from town and has a sheltered cove for swimming (John Cove). Fishing from all beaches is excellent. There is a marina at Fishery
Beach with full boating facilities for easy launching of recreational boats. The facilities in town include a general/liqour store, post office,
roadhouse, hardware/camping store, library/telecentre/visitors centre, nursing post, occasional childcare, primary school, museum & cafe, pizzeria
and a local hotel.

Things to do in Bremer Bay:
Lebens Diving Services is the oldest PADI facility in the Great Southern, it can provide a full
range of services from dive courses to tank fills. If chartered dives are what you are after, there
is a custom built 40 ft Aluminum available for up to 12 divers. Because Bremer Bay is made up of
many protected bays it is possible to dive in almost all weather conditions. You can even watch
Southern Right Whales in season from July to October.
Wellstead Homestead & Pioneer Museum
John Wellstead settled Bremer Bay in the early 1850's turning the land to sheep and cattle
grazing.  Four generations on, the original Wellstead homestead, and now heritage museum stand,
bearing historic witness to the toil of this early pioneering family. Wander around the original
homestead complex of old stone and timber buildings, shearing sheds, outbuildings and stables.  The
pioneer museum, contained within the homestead grounds, houses over 3,000 exhibits.  Experience,
first hand, the ways of early colonial life.

Gateway to the Fitzgerald River National Park
The Fitzgerald River National Park is one of the true success stories for those who strive to
protect and conserve wilderness areas. The Park is a protected area of land boasting beautiful
beaches, the highest number of plant species in any park in Western Australia, the most
vertebrates of anu south west park, whale watching, bird watching, drives and walks. You may
wish to visit or stay at Quaalup Homestead located on the edge of the Fitzgerald River National
Park, which is a good base to explore this vast park.
Whale Watching
Whale watching in Bremer Bay occurs during the months of
July through to October.The main whale watching sites are
Pt Anne, where there is a purpose built platform and from
Bremer Beach which is located next to the town site,
however whales can be spotted from most beaches all the
way along the coast during the whale watching season.
Fishing
Bremer Bay contains many great fishing spots for shore and boating anglers. The biggest
advantage it offers shore anglers is its flexibility. Bremer offers a quality range of beach, rock
and river options all within a short distance from the town site. Surf anglers commonly catch
salmon, skippy and sharks in ever-forming holes and gutters. Rock anglers are given the option of
multiple ledges that enable the catch of samson fish and groper in almost any weather conditions.
The many rivers and inlets provide the opportunity to catch black bream.

Surfing, Body Boarding & Sand Boarding
Many beaches around Bremer offer the opportunity for water activities. The most common
surfing and body boarding beaches being Native Dog Beach and Blossoms. Dunes for sand
boarding can be found at the Hunter River, Blossoms and many other beaches along the coast.
Beautiful Beaches One of the main attractions to Bremer Bay are the many
beautiful bays located all along the coast. A protected beach can always be found no matter
what the weather conditions. 4WD vehicles can be driven onto many of the beaches making it an
easy day to spend with the family.

Flora and Fauna
The areas around Bremer Bay boast at least 1,893 plant species that have been recognised and
more being found as work continues. The Barrens found to the North-East of Bremer have
completely unique native plant systems and are home to around 70 specialised and spectacular
wildflowers that are found nowhere else. Bremer Moort, a very attractive tree only known from
Bremer Bay, is widely planted, yet its only wild population of a few thousand trees is next to the
Wellstead Estuary. It typifies what a unique place in the nature of south-western Australia
Bremer Bay .
The tremendous variety of vegetation provides a haven for native animals and birds. Along with
rare species such as the Dibbler, Heath Rat and Hooded Plover other more readily found wild
residents can be seen such as pelicans, kangaroos, emus and seals
